Thursday Afternoon Musings

This week we are finishing up the first several weeks of school. Beginning Monday we will have a 10 day break. Based upon the faces of the students (and teachers) we can all use the break!

Many of the students and their families will be going on mini-vacations. Some people are going to Italy. Others are going to Germany while others are gonna take in a few sites around France itself. Today in my class the teacher was having us practice our French by asking us what we are going to do while on break. Her specific question was "Qu'est-ce que vous pouvez faire en vacances?" (No, I didn't write it down from memory!). Loosely translated it means, "What are you able to do on vacation?" When it was my turn I said, "Nous pouvons faire du camping" which means "We will be camping." Of course we aren't going camping. In fact, we won't be doing much of anything "extra". Instead, we're just sticking around home and hanging out. (After I said we'd be camping she - my teacher - said, "You'll need a really big tent!". Everyone laughed. Little does she know that we do have such a tent. It'll hold 12 people and currently resides deep in the bowels of our storage unit back in Fergus.)

Besides relaxing and resting, one very nice thing about the break will be that some friends are letting us use their car. They will have family in town and need to rent a bigger vehicle. So, they told us we can have their car and this is great because we can use it to go shopping (several times for sure). - You know, lots of folks here ride bicycles... everywhere. But, I have no clue how they can possibly go grocery shopping. The kids and I will go several days in a row, riding the "community" bikes here at school, with our backpacks. The ride is not long (less than 5 minutes) and flat but it does get old especially now that the wheather is getting colder - but not like Fergus Falls! PTL!

Hope you all have a great day. We miss you!

Oh my, I can't imagine doing grocery shopping on bicycle! Maybe during your 10 day break you can build a cart to pull with the bike so you can load up more than you can carry in a back pack...

At any rate, enjoy your time off and since you will have sooo much free time, maybe ALL the kids can add a blog! :-) Also, we want to see a picture of Pay's hair cut!

Love ya all -

I doubt you will be able to tell he got a haircut. Janice took off about 1 inch. Just removed the curls. (Sounds kinda funny to say that about a boy's hair!!!)

I doubt, too, that he'll let us take his picture. Maybe when he's asleep.....

Wow! Wonderful to have a break and have the opportunity to relax just a little. It makes us appreciate our ease of shopping, to hear about doing so on bicycle and putting purchases in a backpack. It would take me so many trips I’d probably get real skinny from all the pedaling. That might not be all bad, hum....
The tutor sounds like such a great solution for everyone and the timing is right on!
We will be missing all of you and wishing we were there or you were here. At least this blogging keeps us in the picture and for that we are grateful Enjoy yourselves.
LOTS OF LOVE
