Another day....

Just another day here in the "Big A". The tutor comes in few minutes. Ethan goes back to school in about 30 minutes (1:15 PM), and then I go back to class at 1:45. First thing on the schedule this afternoon is sitting in the Language Lab listening to some french dude speaking french (way too fast) into my headphones. I have found that in the darkened room, with everyone listening intently, I am able to get 30 or 40 minutes of sleep without much problem at all. (OK, so I'm kiddig. I am ususally able to get only about 15 minutes of sleep or so. Ha!)

Ethan's class went to the biblioteque today. The biblioteque is the library. He said he didn't have fun there because "all they had was books!" I knew it was gonna be a long day for him there because this morning Janice asked him, "Ethan, aren't you glad you get to go to the biblioteque today and have some fun?" His response came quickly.... "I don't want to have any fun today!" (He's beginning to sound more and more like his mother every day!)

C'est tout for now!

A demain,

Oops, Been Away So Long....

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the very long time b/t posts. For some reason time has just been slipping away here as we live in France and try to learn the language. Everybody is healthy after several of the kids had some weird sickness that only struck a few of them and only at night. (They would throw-up 2 or 3 times, feel really terrible, and then be completely fine. This went on for a little over a week and it happened 2 or 3 times to each one of the 'sick' kids. And, the funny thing is, it wasn't food poisoning either because if it were, all of us would've contracted whatever 'it' was.) As is usual, Keturah started the illness and seemed to get over it more easily than the others. The best part - as far as Ethan was concerned - was that he missed 1 week of school because we weren't sure if 'it' was contageous or not.

I hope you all are enjoying the final days of January. From what I've been told, February is quite busy around here because it is a BIG skiing month with lots of tourists coming to town to enjoy the ski slopes.

Au Revoir!

Some pictures

Our camera gets a healthy work out daily and we are trying to keep up with downloading the shots to our computer and uploading them to the blog. Here are a few that Gracey took.

It finally snowed again. Only about, well maybe 2 inches and it's almost gone. Cold enough to snow, not cold enough to stick around. That's ok though the kids got out in it and played, played and played some more. When they came in they were SOAKED from head to toe...speaking of toes... their toes were so wet they were all wrinkled and white. Emma was sure she had frost bite but she made a fort next to the radiator heater and warmed right up.

The last picture is of burgers, fries, ketchup and a soda. Emma and Keturah made these out of molding clay.
Happy Saturday,
~janice for all

Goin' back to school!!

OK, so some are feeling a bit crazy about starting school up again tomorrow. Some are feeling not so happy and some are feeling pretty ok about it. Actually even looking forward to it!!
We will have 3 more intense months of language learning then we will have Spring break.
We have had a nice 16 day Christmas break and now it's back to work.
Keep praying for us not just for language learning but also for getting along as a family during this time. Sometimes when one gets frustrated trying to make sense of a new language tempers can be short.
Happy Sunday

Gracey working on her horse blanket

Gracey got this blanket from Jessie for Christmas. She got it all put together, with some help from daddy. When she was finished she snuggled on the couch with a great big smile. It looks like she was getting a little buggy towards the end there!!

Gracey and Keturah Entertainment

We have played this video so many times and laugh every time we watch it. Too funny. And, yes, they both gave me permission to blog this video. They are good sports.

Toby Mac may be calling for some back up singers?? What do you think?? :)

Our 3 hours at the Olympic Hall Ice Rink

The 9 photo's above are at various pionts during our time at the rink. After about 1 1/2 minutes of skating I decided to watch rather than risk my life on the ice. But, the kids had a blast. There are 2 video's here at the end, you just need to double click the play arrow.
There is a picture of the awesome, HUGE rock wall that we didn't climb this time, but tomorrow Steven is taking the kids back for more fun so maybe they will find the courage to scale that baby. The picture only shows half of the wall. It goes from the floor to the top of the ceiling and curves out.
There are a couple of pictures of an extra child, her name is Carla. Gracey and her hit it off and she is now Gracey's new language partner. She helps Grace with French and GG helps her with English. She is a very sweet girl and she loved our big family. We plan on having her over for play times and seeing her at the rink as well. This gal is actually on a hockey team with one of the boys who's family attends here at CEF with us!!

Better Late Than Never

Look at these 2 photos.

I received the "charms" and the cup cakes from Uncle Greg for Christmas today in the mail. (In fact, we received a huge box from the Kord's today. I guess those postal workers have been a bit slow lately.) What a gift! I know I should have more sophisticated tastes buds than "charms" and Hostess cup cakes but I don't. They are 2 of my favorite "food groups". (Anybody who knows me knows that all of my food group preferences include ample amounts of sugar. Yum, yum.)

The other photo of Ethan has him showing off some of his many new Spider Man outfits he received from his cousins in Troutdale, Oregon. Ethan is in heaven with these bad boys!

Hope you all have a great day.

Singer Boy!

Even though I had no idea we were being recorded, Ethan did. I guess he fancies himself as a musical conductor.

Have a great day.

Happy New Year

We just wanted to take this opportunity to say "Thank you!" to all of our friends and family who helped to make 2007 a great year for us. We appreciate all of your cards, letters, e-mails, prayers, and support. We are humbled that you read our Blog and that you take the time every now and then to let us know you're thinking about us.

It is our sincere hope and prayer that the Lord will Bless you and your families in 2008.

Remember, be careful what you pray for because you just might get it (like ending up in a foreign country training to go to another foreign country!).

Peace and Joy to you all.

Steve, Janice, and the kiddos
