Life in Chad

Hello Everyone!

We thank everyone for their comments to this blog. We read them, everyone of them. They make us feel loved and connected. We, too, have enjoyed the pictures that have been posted. So many memories are being made. At times it is hard to believe we are really here!

At the end of December we went to Cameroun where we spent about 2 weeks. It was a great time 4 other families. We had a time of spiritual renewal as well us just hanging out. Even mangaged to go to a local pool about a half a dozen times. What fun.

But, while we were there we some of us also picked up a nasty bug. At first, based upon test, we thought it was malaria. So, Esther, Gracey, and I took 4 days worth of treatments for that and we generally improved. But, when we got home Payton, Tawnee, Ethan, Liddy, Janice, and Keturah all came down with the same thing. They've all gone through the 4 days of treatment but not all have responded as well as the first 3 of us. So, we now have Ethan, Liddy, and Keturah who are struggling the most. Basically, the bug kinda acts like the flu but not always with an upset stomach. Some of us threw up, some didn't. Even a couple of trips to the doctor hasn't done much good.

This is typcial for life here and we're not complaining. We have been amazing resilient and haven't had anything requiring evacuation. So, life is good.

Please pray for the kiddos. With some much fun to be had it is hard to keep them "quiet" in the house all day long. Pray for Janice too since she's still recouperating but also feels a burden to be mom while the kids are sick. Being mom and resting don't often go hand in hand so pray that she would be able to get some rest.

Things are good here. Weather is starting to warm up just a bit and the hot season is just around the corner. We've even had several guests at the Welcome Center and that has been good too.

Have a great week.

Steven, thank you so much for the updates "from the horses mouth" so to speak. It is much better when it comes directly from you.
Our prayers will continue to be for your strength, healing and sustaining all that comes your way.
We love each one of you,
